User Guidelines

Do not use, or try to use, Speech2RTT®:

  • for TTY to RTT, or RTT to TYY, communications; S2RTTC was not designed to handle this type of communications.
  • when other VoIP, SIP, or Wi-Fi calling apps are running at the same time. Apps of this type include, but are not limited to ezTalks, Facebook Messenger, Fring, Google Duo, Google Hangouts, Google Voice, imo, KakaoTalk, Line, magicApp, MagicApp, MizuDroid, Nymgo, Signal Private Messenger, Skype, Tango, Viber, Viber, Vonage, WeChat, WhatsApp, and Zoiper. When these apps are active, your microphone is not available to S2RTTC to transcribe your voice.
  • to place a 911 call or any other type of call that could be considered important, critical, or an emergency; S2RTTC was not designed to handle this type of communications.
  • for simultaneous voice and RTT communications; S2RTTC was not designed to handle this type of communications.

Please Do the following when using Speech2RTT®:

  • Speak as clearly and distinctly as possible;
  • Speak at a normal pace;
  • If words are transcribed incorrectly, repeat them;
  • If there is excessive background noise (restaurants, bars, concerts, malls, airports, etc.) we recommend using a headset microphone. Note: Wired headsets are preferred as Bluetooth headsets can introduce a slight delay in communications.
  • After each natural pause in a spoken string of words, wait 1-2 seconds before commencing to speak again. This pause provides S2RTTC’s real-time text buffer the time it needs to: 1) correct; and then, 2) stream the words that may have built up in the buffer.
  • If you opt to type your conversation with a keyboard please make sure that S2RTTC’s “Stop Listening” button is activated. If you don’t do this, the application may pick up spoken words/noise from the background and interfere with what you are typing.
  • If you find that you are talking over each other, and that words are being dropped at the beginning of sentences, please take turns speaking/typing.
