Katie Robinson, A.S. is a certified literary Braille transcriber. Robinson
received her degree in computer networking systems from DeVry University, in
Columbus Ohio. She is a National Library Service for the Blind and Physically
Handicapped (NLS), Library of Congress Certified Braille Transcriber. Robinson
supports the National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS)
legislation in the areas of assistive technology (AT) and accessible Educational
Materials (AEM). She is a certified in both English Braille American Edition (EBAE)
and Unified English Braille (UEB) literary braille production. Katie prepares
NIMAS file sets for conversion into the multiple formats of braille, large
print, audio, and digital text for students with print disabilities. She
provides technical assistance to parents and school district personnel in the
the preparation of AEM. Katie also creates braille and large print materials in
support of the Braille Excellence for Students and Teachers (BEST) project.
Finally, Katie tests mobile applications, websites, and forms for both braille
display and screen reader compatibility, accessibility, and usability.
