This post overviews the features of Speech2RTT®.
After installing Speech2RTT® and opening the application, you will see the following screen:
Here’s an overview of the various settings and functions of Speech2RTT®:
Note: If you arrive at a screen accidentally, and wish to return to the previous screen, press the “Return” icon on your Android smart phone:
The settings Icon looks like this:
The two settings are “Language” and “Timestamps.”
Tap “Language.” Select the “Language” you wish to use. There are many to choose from. Note: Be sure to select the right dialect (country) for the language selected (if there are multiple dialects available). If you do not do this the accuracy of your transcriptions may be inaccurate.
The “Timestamps” check box activates “time-stamping” each message as it is being streamed. We built in this feature in to test the response times of Speech2RTT®. We do not suggest using this feature as it takes up valuable chat window real estate. By the way, response times are normally less than 1/3 of a second!
Tapping this icon takes you to your contact list. You will use this feature when selecting someone to chat with.
Note: In order to have a conversation with someone they must also have Speech2RTT® installed and their area code/phone number must have been added to your contact list.
Your contact list displays when you tap the “Contacts” Icon.
Your contact list also displays when you tap the “Contacts” tab:
The “Search” Icon launches a search engine that enables you to search for a contact:
The “Add a Contact” Icon lets you add a contact:
The Menu icon looks like this:
When you press the Menu icon you will see three menu items as follows:
The “Documentation” selection takes you Speech2RTT’s® documentation.
The “Feedback” selection enables you to provide feedback to the developers of Speech2RTT®.
Here’s the first screen you will see after selecting “Feedback:”
Tap the email client you wish to use to submit feedback, enter your comments, and then send us your email, as follows:

If you shake your smart phone (hard), the following menu appears:
Tapping the “Talk to Us” selection displays the following screen:
Type your SMS message into the text box at the bottom of the screen:
Then tap the blue, right-pointing, arrow:
This sends the developers your SMS message as shown below.
If you tap the blue plus icon, you can attach an annotated screenshot, voice note, or a screen recording to better describe the bug you ran into… or your suggestion(s).
Here’s what the menu looks like:
“Take a Screenshot”
Here’s a series of screenshots showing what it looks like to take and edit (if needed) a screenshot:
Press the blue, right-pointing, arrow at the top right of the screen to send the screenshot to the developers.
Here’s the screenshot sent:
“Take a Screen Recording”

“Select Image from Gallery”
If you’d like to select an image (previously-taken screenshot) from your gallery and send it to the developers, here are several screenshots of how to do this:
“Record a Voice Note”
We are now back to the menu you see when you shake your smart phone. We just covered all the functionality of “Talk to Us.”
We will now review using “Report a Problem.” This selection lets you capture a screen and accompany it with whatever you believe is needed to describe the problem. Here are some screenshots:
We will now review “Send an Improvement.”
